Novel fatigue strengthening solution for metallic structures using adhesively bonded Fe-SMA strips: A proof of concept study

چکیده

An innovative fatigue strengthening solution for metallic structures that takes advantage of the shape memory effect an iron-based alloy (Fe-SMA) and bridging mechanism offered by bonding technique has been proposed examined. Fatigue tests on cracked steel plates with bonded carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) nonprestressed prestressed Fe-SMA strips were conducted. The experimental results demonstrate are much more effective than CFRP strips, extending crack growth life a factor 3.51. is highly in retarding structures.
